    Notes
    • Waterfall, Arthur (1834-1891), farmer*, nurseryman and landscape gardener, was born at Leeds 8 May 1834, son of Henry Waterfall (1800-1834) and Lucy Waterfall (born Cross, 1802-1885). After education at Bootham school he had, before the end of his twenties, settled at Airton as a farmer; but before he was 40 he had given this up and become a nurseryman and landscape gardener. He had married in 1865 Hannah Maria (Annie) Cartwright (1842-1877), daughter of George Cartwright (1803-1882) of Airton, farmer and Ann Cartwright (born Coates, 1805-1884). Of the six children, four sons survived to adulthood. After his wife's death the family moved to Leeds, where he died 17 October 1891. Bootham School Register (1935), 432. [12]
